The Julius July Perry Foundation

The Julius July Perry Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to preserving the legacy of Julius July Perry, a key figure in the Ocoee Massacre, a tragic event in 1920 where racial violence erupted in Ocoee, Florida, resulting in the deaths of African American residents and the destruction of Black homes and businesses. The foundation seeks to raise awareness of this dark chapter in American history and honor the victims of the massacre by supporting education, social justice, and community empowerment initiatives. The foundation is dedicated to fostering dialogue, healing, and ensuring that the history and impact of the Ocoee Massacre are never forgotten. By focusing on programs that uplift underrepresented communities, the foundation champions equity, reconciliation, and progress for future generations.

Equal Justice Initiative

UpLIFT is an organization founded by Kimasia Ayers in 2017, designed to empower young women through leadership development, education, and social consciousness. Focused on mentorship and community engagement, UpLIFT equips participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to become impactful leaders in their schools and communities. The organization emphasizes academic excellence, social awareness, and advocacy, fostering the next generation of women who are committed to driving positive change. Through its initiatives, UpLIFT nurtures young women to embrace their potential and actively contribute to a more inclusive, equitable society.

Find Your Voice (FYV)

The Find Your Voice (FYV) initiative, launched by the OCPS Minority Achievement Office and sponsored by Sasha Wallace, aims to empower young women in the district by offering leadership development and mentorship. This impactful program focuses on instilling the core values of Value, Overcoming, Integrity, Commitment, and Enthusiasm—forming the acronym VOICE. In 2017, UpLIFT (founded by Kimasia Ayers) was honored to be the only high school representative for this initiative, contributing to the mission of cultivating confident, socially conscious female leaders.
