Beauty Team
For the Diverse World Fashion Magazine (DWF) Issue 25, I was a key contributor to the beauty team, where I created striking gold 3D tears as part of an emotional visual representation. The design symbolized the vulnerability that many people hide as they pursue their idealized versions of success. The tears portrayed how society often pressures individuals to mask their true emotions, leaving little space for authentic self-expression. This concept was embodied through a model that represented the tension between modern virtues and vices, highlighting the contrast between the real and ideal personas. This piece served as a powerful commentary on societal norms and the struggle for authenticity in a world that often values perfection over genuine emotional expression.
Article Writer
In my article, “New Virtues” for Diverse World Fashion Magazine, Issue 25, I presented a contemporary reimagining of the Seven Virtues, drawing inspiration from the classical artistry of Piero del Pollaiuolo and Sandro Botticelli. This piece explored the nuanced interplay of modern virtues and vices—Empathy vs. Apathy, Activism vs. Passivism, Individuality vs. Conformity, Enlightenment vs. Ignorance, Divinity vs. Emptiness, and Real vs. Ideal—challenging societal perceptions and the performative nature of judgment.
The article framed virtues like empathy and activism as essential yet often overlooked elements in the face of conformity, while individuality was positioned as the keystone for self-actualization, flanked by divinity and enlightenment to emphasize the interconnectedness of self-awareness and universal understanding. By juxtaposing ideals of real and ideal, the piece called attention to the detrimental effects of comparison and urged readers to embrace the raw, unfiltered authenticity of human experiences.
Through this exploration, I underscored how creative expression, like fashion and portraiture, can illuminate the volatile yet beautiful complexity of the human experience. “New Virtues” encouraged audiences to relinquish societal conditioning and explore fulfillment through self-discovery, challenging the artificial values imposed by judgment.
This project showcased my ability to merge historical influence, creative storytelling, and philosophical inquiry, aligning seamlessly with Diverse World Fashion Magazine’s mission to inspire cultural dialogue and elevate progressive artistic narratives.
