The design symbolized the vulnerability that many people hide as they pursue their idealized versions of success. The tears portrayed how society often pressures individuals to mask their true emotions, leaving little space for authentic self-expression. This concept was embodied through a model that represented the tension between modern virtues and vices, highlighting the contrast between the real and ideal personas. In my article, “New Virtues” for Diverse World Fashion Magazine, Issue 25, I presented a contemporary reimagining of the Seven Virtues, drawing inspiration from the classical artistry of Piero del Pollaiuolo and Sandro Botticelli. This piece explored the nuanced interplay of modern virtues and vices—Empathy vs. Apathy, Activism vs. Passivism, Individuality vs. Conformity, Enlightenment vs. Ignorance, Divinity vs. Emptiness, and Real vs. Ideal—challenging societal perceptions and the performative nature of judgment.
