I had the honor of presenting my research at the 2023 FSU President’s Showcase of Undergraduate Research Excellence, a prestigious event that highlights exceptional academic work and research leadership. My research explored the socio-economic impacts on Black-owned businesses, specifically analyzing the long-term effects of historical trauma on entrepreneurial success and growth. This work was grounded in examining the unique obstacles that Black entrepreneurs experience, aimed at providing insights into strategies that can support these businesses in navigating these unique barriers.
During the presentation, I communicated complex research findings in a clear, compelling manner, engaging a diverse audience of students, faculty, and industry professionals. My work not only addressed the historical context but also offered a forward-thinking analysis of how businesses can foster resilience and sustainable success. This event provided an opportunity to connect my academic research with real-world applications, presenting actionable strategies that entrepreneurs can implement, showcasing my research skills and ability to bridge market research and tangible tasks to connect communities through complex problem solving and unique approaches.
By leveraging effective public speaking techniques, I was able to translate intricate data into accessible insights, fostering an interactive dialogue that encouraged critical thinking among attendees. This experience allowed me to sharpen my skills in presenting complex topics in an engaging format, enhancing both my public speaking and research communication abilities.
